The Hanscom Aero Club will be holding a Garmin G1000 avionics orientation course for those pilots who are interested in getting qualifications and an Annual Standardization flight evaluation in N157WA – our new G1000 NXi-equipped Piper Archer.
This course will be offered only as an in-person classroom-oriented course, without flight instruction or one-on-one training, which will be offered separately with a club’s CFI.
The initial session will cover G1000 NXi avionics systems, general topics, supplemented by a second session focusing on G1000 IFR topics.
Attendees are encouraged to set up a subsequent one-on-one session with a qualified G1000 instructor using the ground power unit in the Archer or in the simulator (a G1000 panel for the RedBird should get to the club in a few weeks).
The class is only open to current Hanscom Aero Club members holding a private pilot certificate or above, and is focused on pilots without prior G1000 experience. Student pilots who are close to their checkride may join – only those who completed the second stage check.
The first meeting – focused on the G1000 general operation and using it for VFR flight – will be held on Sat Nov 22nd. Registration is now closed. The fee for the course is $15.
